Carolyn S. (Hawk) Conner

Carolyn S. Conner, 79, of Bushnell, Florida, died peacefully on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at Citrus Health & Rehab, Inverness, FL. Born April 25, 1939 in Maysville, WV, she was one of 15 children.  She was predeceased by her parents, Paul G. and Mae (Taylor) Hawk of Maysville, WV, and her late husband, William Thomas Conner of Pearisburg, VA.

Carolyn was a loving and nurturing wife, mother and grandmother.  She was a caring person who always thought of others before herself.  She was generous, and she was kind.  She had a quiet strength that belied her frail body.  She had a wonderfully sweet demeanor, a pure heart, and an unwavering faith in God.  Hers was a life well lived, she was loved dearly, and she will be missed more than words can ever say. 

Surviving her are her three children, Jeanine Hammond (James Kelly) of Cranston, RI; Rachel Conner of Bushnell, FL; and Cameron Conner (Cindy) of Bushnell, FL; grandchildren Sophie Conner, Sadie Conner and Jaxon Conner; four brothers, Ronald Hawk (Jean) of Cumberland, MD; William Hawk (Joan) of Broomes Island, MD; Richard Hawk (Martha) of Maysville, WV; Olin Hawk (Phyllis) of Petersburg, WV; and four sisters, Phyllis Treadway (Rupert) of Arlington, VA; Frances Park (Tim) of Petersburg, WV, Norma Reel of Petersburg, WV; and Patricia Parks (Orland) Scherr, WV; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five sisters: Mary Ellen Dayton, Shirley Arbogast, Lovell Goldizen, Eileen Foley, and Ramona Cook, and one brother, Wendell Hawk.

The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support, and request that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital (a charity that Carolyn supported), P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN  38148-0142.
