Carol May (Winstead) Wratchford

Carol May (Winstead) Wratchford, age 77, of Petersburg, WV passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at her home.  She was born April 25, 1941 in Fairfax, VA and was a daughter of the late Carl Delaney Winstead and Grace Ann (Clark) Winstead.  In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Donald G. Wratchford, Sr. on November 16, 2015; two sisters, Joyce Peck and infant Charlotte Winstead.

  Carol was employed with the United States Department of Army in the Pentagon from 1961 – 1968.  Later she and her husband moved to West Virginia and she was secretary for her husband’s business, Wratchford Painting in Petersburg.   She was Assistant Magistrate for 7 years and retired from Grant Memorial Hospital in 2011.  More recently she was a receptionist at Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center. 

Carol is survived by two sons, Donald G. Wratchford Jr. and wife Marcia of Petersburg, WV and Michael W. Wratchford and wife Tammy of Moorefield, WV and daughter, Angela Wisnewski and husband Ed of Maysville, WV; four grandchildren, Ryan Wratchford and wife Kaitlyn, Courtney Moyers and husband Adam, Callie Wisnewski and Tyce Wisnewski; one step grandson, Anthony Mills; three great grandsons, Noah Whetzel, A.J. Moyers and Reed Wratchford; two sisters, Janet Romine and husband Richard of Warrenton, VA and Wanda Marsengill of Florence, SC and one brother, Carl D. Winstead, Jr. of Centreville, VA and several nieces and nephews. 

Friends will be received from 2:00 – 4 00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. 

Funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM Friday, in the Chapel of the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Bergdoll and Pastor Brad Taylor officiating.  Interment will be in the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville, WV.
