Arbutus Susan (Goldizen) Riggleman Daniels, age 94, of Petersburg, WV passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019 in her home.
She was born October 18, 1924 in Jordan Run, WV and was a daughter of the late Gabriel Branson Goldizen and Bertha (Barger) Goldizen. In addition to her parents, Arbutus was preceded in death by her first husband, Justin F. Riggleman in 1979 and her second husband, Foster Daniels in 2006; also preceded by two sons, Randall B. Riggleman, Sr., and Leroy Riggleman; one granddaughter, Melissa Cherry; four brothers, Paul “Babe” Golidzen, Arno “Peck” Goldizen, Julius "Sam" Goldizen and Arthur “Butch” Goldizen; and one sister, Norma Jean (Goldizen) Smith.
Arbutus is survived by one son, Gary J. Riggleman of Petersburg, WV; two daughters, Sandra Shook of Dorcas, WV and Brenda (David) Mason of Sterling, VA; one sister, Nadine Jordan of Baltimore, MD and ten grandchildren, one step granddaughter; thirteen great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
Arbutus was a dietician at Northern Virginia Doctors Hospital in Arlington, VA and Grant Memorial Hospital before retiring. She was a member of Riverside Church.
Family will receive friends Friday from 6 :00 – 8:00 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home. Additional viewing will be Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 11 AM – 1 PM at the Cabins Assembly of God Church.
A funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 9th at the Cabins Assembly of God Church with Rev. Coleman Clark and Pastor Tommy George officiating. Burial will follow in the Goldizen Family Cemetery on Jordan Run Road.
