Kermit Lee McDonald, Sr. age 89 of Maysville, WV passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV.
Kermit was born on March 12, 1935 in Maysville, WV and was a son of the late Teddy Roosevelt McDonald and Edna Pearl (Rohrbaugh) McDonald. In addition to his parents, Kermit was preceded in death by one son, Kermit Lee McDonald, Jr and grandson, David W. McDonald and son-in-law, Len Michalowski.
Kermit is survived by his wife of 69 years, Rachel (Hardy) McDonald; two daughters, Debby Michalowski of Manassas, VA and Jeanie Champ (Steven) of Petersburg, WV; one son, Jonathan E. McDonald (Frances) of Manassas, VA; two grandchildren, Julius (Carey) Michalowski and J’nae Champ; one great grandson, Samuel Jay Michalowski; one step granddaughter, Andrea Taylor and her three children.
Kermit was a 1954 graduate of Petersburg High School. He worked at Allied Egry from 1964-1994 and later worked at Shop N Save from 1999-2016.
Kermit had a distinct memory that allowed him to recount and relate to stories from years past with an enviable precision and charm.
Kermit attended Maysville Bible Brethren Church.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 5, 2024 at the Schaeffer Funeral Home from 11 AM till time of service at 1:00 PM.
Funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Lynn Durbin officiating. Interment will be in Maysville Cemetery.
