Earl "Bub" W. Mongold, Sr.

Earl Wayne “Bub” Mongold, Sr. age 93 of Broadway, Virginia and formerly of Petersburg, WV passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at his residence in Broadway. 

Earl was born on April 27, 1930 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of the late John Henry Mongold and Nina Wilda (Feaster) Mongold. 

In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Dovevi LaVonne (Ball) Mongold in 2013; three sons, William Earl DeArmond, Ronald DeArmond and Earl W. Mongold, Jr.; one daughter, Linda Fay Johnson; three brothers, William “Bill” Mongold, John H. Mongold, Jr. and Homer M. Mongold; four sisters, Emojean Buckley, Mildred Riggleman,  Ruby Getz and Mary Ann Hillman.  Earl was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Earl is survived by three sons, David E. Mongold of Broadway, VA, Daryl Bryant of Rough & Ready, CA and Bobby (Crystal) Mongold of Broadway, VA; three daughters, Georgia Mae (Joseph) Fulk of Fulks Run, VA., Barbara Ann Diaz of Broadway, VA and Debra L. (Melvin) Plogger of Timberville, VA; twenty-one grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Earl served in the United States Army during the Korean War, He retired from Bethlehem Steel.   

Funeral service will be Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV with Pastor Wade Armentrout officiating. 

Family will receive friends from 12 Noon till time of service.

Burial will be in the Newhouse Cemetery, Rig, WV with Military Honors by the Grant County Veterans Honor Guard and West Virginia Army Honor Guard.
