Virginia K. "Cookie" VanFleet, age 78, of Petersburg, WV passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Grant Memorial Hospital.
She was born February 2, 1936 in Petersburg, WV and was the daughter of the late Alice C. (VanMeter) McLawhorn.
Virginia was postmaster of the Arthur Post Office in Arthur, WV and retired after 28 years of employment. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.
Virginia is survived by one son, Robert L. (Robin) VanFleet of Petersburg, WV; two daughters, Pam (Randy) Hartman of Petersburg, WV and Rebecca (Steve) Martin of Maysville, WV; five grandchildren, Jesse (Carolyn) Powell of Alabama, Samanatha (Brandon) Bates of Parkersburg, WV, Taylor Martin, Skylar Martin and Tyler Martin all of Maysville, WV; one great granddaughter, Natalie Ann Marie Woolery of Texas.
Family will receive friends Tuesday from 5- 8 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 14, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Rev. Joseph Gerstell officiating.
Burial will be in the Maysville Cemetery at Maysville, WV.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grant Memorial Hospital Extended Care, Activities Fund.
