Violet (Huff) Cook Adkins, age 85, of Old Fields, WV died Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at her home surrounded by loving family and friends.
She was born December 31, 1929 in Argillite, Kentucky and was a daughter of the late Allen Huff and Margaret (Sarks) Huff. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald James Cook on July 20, 1994 and her second husband Garten Akins; three sisters, Rosetta Huff, Thelma Huff Boley and Geneva Huff Raver; and two brothers, Estil Huff and Arvil Huff.
Mrs. Adkins retired from the Department of Transporation in the state of Ohio in 1993. She had worked as a Counselor for Prilgrims Pride in Moorefield. She was also Founder and President for the Potomac Valley Christian Singles Club for eight years. She also founded the We Care Group who collected special items for needy families.
Violet is survived by one son, Clinton S. Cook and wife, Crystal of Petersburg, WV., one daughter, Rosanne Dixon and husband, Robert of Bonita Springs, Florida; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one sister, Opal Huff Clarke of Daniels Fork, KY and one brother, Hershel Huff and wife, Halcy of Argillite, KY and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family will receive friends Saturday 9 - 11 a.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Wendell Everett officiating. Interment will be in North Fork Memorial Cemetery at Riverton, WV.
