Sara Ersagovich Obituary

Sara Ruth (Jordan) Ersagovich, age 85, of Petersburg, WV died April 1, 2014 at the Grant County Nursing Home.
She was born February 3, 1929 in Jefferson, PA and was the daughter of the late Charles Clemet Jordan and Nellie (Murray) Jordan.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Edward Ersagovich on November 12, 2011; three brothers, Clancey Albert Jordan, Charles Brice Jordan and Carl Murray Jordan. She was the last member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Ersagovich was a graduate of Jefferson High School in 1947 and received her Stenographic-Secretarial Diploma from the Penn Commercial College in Washington, Pennsylvania on July 13, 1948. She worked from 1948 - 1961 in the personnel office of the Mather Colleries Mine Office then moved to Aberdeen, Maryland in 1961 where she was employed by the J. M. Huber Corporation, Chemicals Division, Havre de Grace, Maryland. She was honored January 1987 as the first woman to make the Huber Chemical Division's "25 Year Club" and was the marketing management secretary when she retired March 31, 1991 with 29 years of service. Although she worked full time, she enjoyed her role as homemaker. She always had a hot meal prepared and was known for her pies; she always had a pie on the counter and often took them to work for her co-workers. Ruth and Edward collected Native American art objects.

Mrs. Ersagovich is a member of the Dorcas Baptist Church but while living in Aberdeen she was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in BelAir, MD and served in various positions, including Church Clerk.

She is survived by eight nieces and nephews, including Barbara and Jim Matts, great nieces and nephews and her extended family Julia and Gerry Kerns of Petersburg. She has been a resident in the Alzheimer's Wing of the Grant County Nursing Home since April 8, 2008 where she received excellent care.

Friends will be received Friday 6 to 8 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral services will be Saturday 11:00 a.m. (April 5, 2014) at the Dorcas Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Davis officiating. Family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services.

Interment will follow in the Whispering Winds Cemetery at Dorcas, WV.
