Rebecca Dodd Obituary
Rebecca Ann (Custer) Dodd, age 74, of Petersburg, WV went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA.
She was born December 22, 1939 in Marmet, WV and was a daughter of the late Lee Custer and Emma and William Fortner.
Rebecca worked on the maternity ward at the Grant Memorial Hospital and retired after 32 years. She was an Elder of the Petersburg Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Petersburg Chapter 146 Order of Eastern Star and was a member of the Board of Trustees at the Grant County Nursing Home.
Surviving her husband of 57 years, Gillie R. Dodd, son, Roger Alan Dodd of Petersburg, WV; daughter Susan Lyn Secrist and husband Dale of Medley, WV; six grandchildren, Johna Minnich, Aaron Secrist, Martie Dodd, Roy A. Dodd, Ryan Dodd and William Dodd; six great grandchildren, including Hannah Rebecca Secrist, Shalyn Nicole Secrist and John William Minnich; one brother, Alan Custer and wife Sylvia of Newport News, VA; three half sisters, Diane Custer and Sarah Samples, both of South Charleston, WV and Susan Shelton of Cedar Grove, WV and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Thursday 6-9 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home. An Eastern Star Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Rev. Rich Cardot officiating.
Interment will be in the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville, WV.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Petersburg Presbyterian Church, 20 North Main Street, Petersburg, WV or the Grant County Nursing Home, 127 Early Avenue, Petersburg, WV 26847.
