Randall Alt Obituary

Randall Heber Alt, age 67, of Petersburg, WV passed away on Sunday, Nov 13, 2016 in Valentine, Nebraska while on a deer hunting trip.
Randy was born April 28,1949 in Petersburg and was the son of the late Roswell Heber Alt and Elizabeth (Shanholtz) Alt.
Randy graduated from Pennington Prepratory School, Pennington, NJ in 1969 finishing his education at the University of South Carolina and Salem University in Salem, WV.
Randy owned and managed with his Father, Monarch Mills, a familiar shopping complex on the south side of Petersburg. In 1989 the business was sold and Randy, along with his Father operated Monarch Realty. His last business venture was Grant County Disposal which he sold to his son, John Paul Hott II in 2012.
Randy was a member of the Grove Street Methodist Church.
Randy's passions included a lot of outdoor activities. In summer you would find him on the golf course and in winter, you would find him in the woods. He played in many pro-ams and was an accomplished golfer. His love of the West took him on several successful hunts from Nebraska to Alaska. In the spring you could find him hunting ramps and mushrooms, mostly just to share them with friends. One of his favorite pastimes was taking his four grandchildren to his mountain retreat "The Four Seasons" in Lahmansville.

Randy is survived by his sister Rebecca Alt Lanhardt of Petersburg; two nephews, Shane (Katy) Lanhardt of Gainsville, VA and Seth (Jennifer) Lanhardt of Williamsport, MD; two great nephews Joseph and Samuel and one expected in January.
Also surviving his son, John Paul (Karen) Hott II, and four grandchildren, Brooke Elizabeth, John Paul III, Sarah Ann and Raphael Heber Alt Hott.
A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Sunday Nov. 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grove Street United Methodist Church in Petersburg with Rev. Richard L. Longbon and Pastor Calvin S. Redman officiating. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance, 1101 14th Street, Suite 850, Washington, DC. 20005.
