Marilyn Thorne Obituary
Marilyn Fay (Kimble) Thorne, age 77 of 8692 Lunice Creek Highway, Maysville, WV departed this life on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA.
She was born August 2, 1937 in Smoke Hole, WV and was a daughter of the late Virgil Oran "Bunt" Kimble and Areba (Barger) Kimble.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Ronald Kimble.
Mrs. Thorne was a lifetime deaconess of the Brick Church of the Brethren in Maysville, WV. She was a babysitter to many children through the years and was known as "Grammy".
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Marvin P. Thorne; one son, Marvin Paul (Heather) Thorne Jr. of Maysville, WV; two daughters, Marian (Scott) Howard of Kecksburg, PA and Janice (Mark) Sturgill of Petersburg, WV; five grandchildren, Joshua Sturgill, Dalton Brennan, Wesley Sturgill, Daniel Thorne and Halle Howard; one sister, Elizabeth Armstrong of Moyers, WV and two brothers, Oran "Jim" (Ella Mae) Kimble of Jordan Run, WV and Shirl (Karen) Kimble of Upper Tract, WV. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Family will receive friends Tuesday 2-4 and 6 - 9 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday ( Dec. 31, 2014) at 1:00 p.m. at the Brick Church of the Brethren with Pastor Carroll G. Junkins, Pastor Robert Spaid and Pastor Lynn Durbin officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Petersburg, WV.
