M. Elizabeth Harrison

Mary Elizabeth (Runion) Harrison, age 101, of Maysville, WV died Monday, October 26, 2015 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV.
She was born April 25, 1914 in Cumberland, MD and was the daughter of the late David Pierce Runion and Minnie Belle (Kessel) Runion. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, J. Carl Franz in 1951 and second husband, Forrest W. Harrison in 1988; one infant son, one daughter, Hilda Powell (Franz) Harrison; one granddaughter, Jill Simmons; three brothers, Mervin Runion, Roy Runion and Raymond Runion; two sisters, Jessie Runion Metcalf and Maybelle Runion Rafferty; and step son, C. James Harrison.

Mrs. Harrison retired from the Ben Franklin Store in Petersburg, WV. She was a member of the Maysville United Methodist Church and Maysville Fire Company and VFW Post 6454 Ladies Auxiliary. She was Foster Grandmother for Maysville Elementary School for several years.

Elizabeth is survived by her granddaughter, Charlene (Harrison) Meadows and husband Paul of High View, WV; one grandson, Jackson (Jessie) Simmons of Romney, WV; two great grandchildren, Connor and Jill Simmons; half sister, Joan (Runion) Hixon and husband Jim of Greensboro, PA; two nieces, Eloise Rohrbaugh (Lloyd) Sherwood of Elk Garden, WV and Betty Jean Rohrbaugh (James) Jaril of Keokuk, Iowa and one nephew, B. Dwight Rohrbaugh of Keyser, WV.

Funeral service will be Thursday 1 p. m. (October 29, 2015) at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Rev. Joseph Gerstell officiating. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. till time of service at 1 p.m. on Thursday. Interment will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg, WV
