Lillian Mae (Whiteman) Halterman, age 89, of Lahmansville, WV went on to her eternal home with Jesus on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Ohio after a brief illness.
Lillian was born on July 25, 1926 in Luke, Maryland to the late George and Anna (Nealis) Whiteman. She graduated from Bruce High School and married the love of her life, Earl C. Halterman, on January 22, 1944. They went on to have 2 children together. She loved being a homemaker, doing word search books and reading her Bible and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Landmark Holiness Tabernacle in Arthur, WV.
To know Lillian was to love her! She had a way of making every person she met feel special and loved. She was universally known as "Grandma." Her strong, unwavering relationship with her Savior got her through life's storms and trials. She was quick to share her faith and offer prayers to those hurting and in need. She was truly a light in this world. We take comfort knowing that she is with Jesus and that we will be reunited again.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory: a daughter, Patricia A. (husband, Gary) Bosley of Cortland, OH; a son, John E. (wife, Trish) Halterman of Petersburg; a granddaughter Sherry L. (husband, Bill) Burnham of Cortland, OH; grandsons Christopher J. and Jacob E. Halterman of Petersburg; great-granddaughter Alexandra G. and great-grandson Logan W. Burnham of Cortland, OH; also many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a very special family, The Kimble's ,who graciously opened their home to her and welcomed her as a part of their family from the time of Earl's passing until her last days. She loved them as family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Halterman in 1983; two brothers Junior and Thomas Whiteman; and one sister, Dorothy (Whiteman) McIntyre.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, June 11, 2016 from 6 -9 p.m. at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. The funeral will be on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at noon in the Schaeffer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wendell Everett officiating. The family will receive friends an hour before the service. Interment will be in the Lahmansville Cemetery.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Landmark Holiness Tabernacle, P.O. Box 355, Purgitsville, WV 26852.
