Jurl McAvoy Obituary

Jurl Dayton McAvoy, age 86, of Purgitsville, WV died Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the home of his daughter, Joan Feigley in Purgitsville.
He was born May 14, 1929 in Onego, WV and was the son of the late Henry McAvoy and Julia (Mallow) McAvoy Vance.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane ( Vance) McAvoy in February 4, 2009; three sons, infant Jurl McAvoy Jr, infant Robert McAvoy and David McAvoy; one daughter, Rose McAvoy; one sister, Betty Katherine McAvoy and son-in-law, Carl "Bud" Mongold.

Mr. McAvoy was a United States veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by one son, Johnny McAvoy of Capon Bridge, WV; three daughters, Jean Caplinger of Timberville, VA, Joan Feigley of Purgitsville, WV and Dottie Mongold of Purgitsville, WV; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

A graveside service will be Monday, July 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the McAvoy Cemetery with Leroy Sions officiating. Burial will follow in the McAvoy Cemetery in Purgitsville, WV.
