Gene Michael Obituary
Gene G. Michael, age 79, of 204 Bryan Street, Petersburg, WV passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at his home.
He was born July 18, 1936 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of the late Merl H. Michael and Flossie V. (Wolfe) Michael.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Darwin Michael, Tracy Michael, Ray Michael and infant Neely Michael; and one sister, Gail (Michael) Rohrbaugh.
Gene graduated from Petersburg High School in 1954. He served in the Army National Guard. He was a meat cutter for 20 years and was an agent for Nationwide Insurance Company until his retirement. He was a member of Grove Street United Methodist Church in Petersburg.
Surviving his wife of 61 years, Dorothy "Dottie" (Vance) Michael; two daughters, Linda Kay Michael of Petersburg, WV; Tammy Crites and husband, Rodger of Moorefield, WV; one son, Greg Michael and wife, Sherry of Petersburg, WV; three grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth (Michael) Kessel and husband, Daniel of Maysville, WV, Jessica Erin (Michael) Bowman and husband, Jeremiah of Martinsburg, WV and Ethan Gregory Michael of Morgantown, WV and several grand-dogs and grand-cats; two brothers, Carroll N. Michael of Petersburg, WV and Harold K. Michael of Moorefield, WV and several nieces and nephews.
As per his wishes, he will be cremated and services will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory of Gene G. Michael to the Arthritis Foundation, P.O. Box 96280, Washington, D.C. 20007 or the American Heart Association,800 10th Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20001.
