Eugene Edgar Sites, age 80, of Petersburg, WV went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 11, 2014 at his home under the care of Hospice surrounded by his loving family.
He was born October 13, 1933 in Rough Run, WV and was a son of the late Glenn Blackston Sites and Edna Mae (Alt) Sites.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Glenwood D. Sites.
Mr. Sites graduated from Petersburg High School class of 1952 and attended Potomac State College and Fairmont State College. He served in the Army Medical Corps in Berlin, Germany attaining rank of E-5. He taught in Grant County Schools, coached grade school sports and taught Adult Basic Education for 10 years.
He retired from the Potomac Valley Bank after 32 years as credit manager. He was an original member of the Valley Gospelaires witnessing in song with that group for over 30 years.
He was a Master Mason in the Petersburg Masonic Lodge #145 A. F. & A.M. for over 50 years where he also served as treasurer. He was also a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He loved sports and hunting.
He was an active member of the Bethel Baptist Church at Kirby and also attended the Dorcas Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Louise (Ruckman) Sites; two sons, Eugene "Eddie" Sites and wife Tabby; Kelly L. Sites and wife Nikki all of Petersburg; one daughter, Kristi L. (Sites) Lee and husband Randy of Winchester, VA; six grandchildren, Stephanie Lynn Sites, Matthew Edgar Sites, Dylan Matthew Lee, Morgan Elizabeth Sites, Madison Paige Sites and Macie Jane Sites; one great granddaughter, Allie Elizabeth Zirk; two foster sons, Gary "Pop" Reel, David Riggleman and wife Robin.
One sister, Karen Ann Sites Cuppett and husband David of Canaan Valley, WV.
Family will receive friends Monday 3 till 8 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. (July 15, 2014) at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Donaldson, Pastor John Vetter, Pastor Steve Davis and Pastor Rick Bergdoll officiating.
Burial will be private with military rites accorded by the Petersburg VFW Post 6454 Honor Guard and the WV Army Honor Guard.
