Eston J. Whetzel

Eston Jacob Whetzel, age 72, of Berryville, VA and formerly of Petersburg, WV passed away on Friday, May 8, 2015 at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.

He was born October 13, 1942 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of the late Jacob and Ottie (Thorne) Whetzel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Larry E. Whetzel and one sister, Diana Whetzel Parrish.

In 2004 he moved to Berryville, VA and settled into his home with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time working in his garden, mowing on his tractor, tending to his chickens, rabbits and his dog Brownie.

Mr. Whetzel is survived by his daughter, Donna Farmer and husband Bob, his son, Eddie Whetzel and wife Jackie, all of Berryville, VA. Six grandchildren, Matthew Morgan and companion Christen Davies, Nicky Morgan, Maddy Farmer, Haley Farmer, Kaylee Whetzel and Caleb Peacher; one brother, Gary Whetzel and wife Janet of Petersburg, WV and one sister, Virginia "Jenny" Bryan of Covington, VA and a brother-in-law, Chuck Parrish of Keyser, WV; several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Schaeffer Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at the Whetzel Family Cemetery at Arthur, WV with Rev. Joseph Gerstell officiating. Interment will be in the Whetzel Family Cemetery.
