Eston C. Porter

Eston Clarence Porter, age 88, of Petersburg, WV passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg.
He was born July 4, 1927 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of the late Edward Clarence Porter and OllieVernon (Weese) Porter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen "Sis" Porter on November 18, 2011; and four sisters, Helen George, Mary Hartman Harper, Lucy Rumer and Shelva Rumer.
Eston was a truck driver for the late E.L. Judy from 1943 -1945. He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1945-1947. He was a member of the American Legion Post 78. He was a cook for the former Sites Restaurant in Petersburg from 1947-1972. He worked for the State of West Virginia Safety Division from 1972 - 1979. He was operator of Porter's Shoe Repair for several years. Mr. Porter and his wife, Helen, along with George and Becky Moomau, established the Petersburg High School Athletic Boosters.
He was a member of the Petersburg First Baptist Church and served in various positions.

Mr. Porter is survived by two sons, Tom A. Porter and wife Lisa of Petersburg, WV and Clarence E. "Butch" Porter and wife Sharon of Myrtle Beach, SC ; three grandchildren, Graham T. Porter and wife, Alisha of Petersburg, WV, Angela Shani Lester and husband, Eugene of Greensboro, NC and Andrea Shari Spradley and husband Justin of Greensboro, NC; and four great grandchildren, Ava Spradley, Andrew Spradley, Josiah Lester and Samuel Lester; two brothers, Curtis Porter and wife Roberta of Petersburg, WV and Paul Porter and wife Stelma of Petersburg, WV; one sister, Margie Porter of Petersburg, WV and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Saturday, September 5, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral service will be Sunday, September 6, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rick Bergdoll officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg, WVwith military honors by the VFW Post 6454.
