Miss Ernestine Harman, age 94, of Petersburg, WV passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at her residence.
She was born September 30, 1923 in Petersburg, WV and was a daughter of the late Henry Clay Harman and Effie (May) Harman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William Harman and Homer Harmon; four sisters, Rosa Lee Yutzy, Nora Turner, Lucille Thomas and Mary Catherine Barr. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Ernestine graduated from Petersburg High School and Rockingham School of Nursing in Harrisonburg, VA. She continued her studies at Catholic University and Asbury University earning a Masters Degree in Nursing. She did mission work in Bolivia, Costa Rica and Peru. Ernestine retired from the Fort Howard Veterans Administration Hospital.
She was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church, Petersburg, WV.
She is survived by her Brother-in-law, Loring Barr of Moorefield, WV and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV with Pastor Lynn Rohrbaugh officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral service.
Burial will follow in Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville, WV.
