Eileen Dove Obituary
Eileen (Funkhouser) Dove, age 80, of Petersburg, WV, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.
Born March 11, 1937 at Needmore, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Raymond G. and Elva (Pennington) Funkhouser.
Mrs. Dove was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Vernon W. Dove on March 16, 2008, and her two brothers, Charles Funkhouser and Wayne Funkhouser.
Mrs. Dove graduated from Wardensville High School in 1955. She worked for the Federal Government as a procurement and contract specialist for 31 years, retiring from the Federal Highway Administration in September 1987.
Eileen was an active member of the Memorial Church of the Brethren in Petersburg and was a member of the Women's Fellowship where she served as Treasurer for several years. She was a member of the Board of Directors of Church Women United in West Virginia. Eileen was President of the American Legion Post 130 Ladies Auxiliary in Falls Church, VA and a member for over 30 years. In her retirement she drove veterans to the VA Hospital in Martinsburg, WV for their medical appointments. Eileen was past Treasurer for the Grant County Ministerial Association. Eileen was selected as Grant County Belle for 2013.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in -law, James and Karen Dove of Bristow, VA; three sisters, Erma Coffman of Winchester, VA., Janet Kelley of Herndon, VA and Carol (Donald) Shockey of Moorefield; two sisters-in-law, Lillian Funkhouser of Moorefield, WV and Bea Funkhouser of Ocoee, Florida; several nieces and nephews and her special friend Joseph Halterman.
Family will receive friends on Friday, August 18, 2017, from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Harold Cullers officiating. Interment will be in the Lahmansville Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Memorial Church of the Brethren, 14 Highland Avenue, Petersburg, WV 26847 or American Heart Association.
