Charles F. Franz

Charles Frederick "Jiggs" Franz, age 81, of Maysville, WV passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Western Maryland Health System in Cumberland, MD.
He was born March 15, 1933 in Maysville, WV and was a son of the late Floyd M. Franz and Marie (Bauer) Franz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Floyd M. Franz Jr., Ernest William Franz and Paul Edward Franz.
Mr. Franz retired from Allegheny Mining in Mt. Storm, WV. He was a charter member of Maysville Volunteer Fire Company. He was a member of Maysville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evelyn V. (Whetzel) Franz, one daughter, Sherry E. Clark and husband Vernon of Maysville, WV, one son, Dr. Charles Bradley Franz and wife, Dominique of Clarksburg, WV, six grandchildren, Jonathan Clark and wife, Janice, Matthew Clark and wife Leslie, Devin Franz, Morgan Franz, Dane Franz and Bethany Franz; two great grandchildren, Kelsey Clark and Ryan Clark; one brother, Ralph B. "Jim" Franz and wife, Darnell of Maysville, WV and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Wednesday 4-6 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. (June 26, 2014) at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Rev. Joseph Gerstell and Rev. Stanley Kile officiating. Interment will follow in the Franz Family Cemetery on Knobley Road, Maysville, WV.
