Arvella VanMeter Obituary
Arvella Ruth VanMeter, age 89, of Cabins, WV passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.
She was born September 10, 1926 in Cabins, WV and was a daughter of the late Earl S. and Mary Frances (Nesselrodt) Ours.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl VanMeter on March 5, 2000, son-in-law, Lowell T. Kitzmiller, three brothers, Andrew C. Ours, Ronald E. Ours, James D. Ours.
Arvella graduated from Petersburg High School and worked in the office of the County and Circuit Court of Grant County from 1962 until 1980 when she was elected Clerk of the Circuit Court and served as Circuit Clerk until her retirement on December 31, 1988. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilt making and loved flowers. She attended Loved Christian Assembly.
Arvella is survived by her daughter, Karen L. Kitzmiller of Cabins, WV, her son, Larry E. VanMeter and wife Shirley of Cabins, WV; four grandchildren, Krista L. Ketterman and husband Ronnie of Maysville, WV, Tamara S. Alt and husband Mark of Petersburg, WV; Cyndi Boyer and husband David of Purgitsville, WV and Kimberly Kimble of Petersburg, WV; seven great grandchildren, Ashlee Ketterman, Adam Ketterman, Destinee Alt, R. J. Delawder, Jeffery Boyer, Brittany Ours and MacKenzie Kimble; one brother, Paul M.Ours and wife Mabel of Cabins, WV and one sister, Lucy Joy Engle Alt of Petersburg, WV; two sister-in-laws, Norma Ours and Patti Ours both of Cabins, WV and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, November 24, 2015 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Bishop W. Edward Murray officiating. Interment will follow in the South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens, Petersburg, WV.
