Anna Mullenax Obituary
Anna Grace Mullenax, age 87, of Petersburg, WV died at Grant Memorial Hospital and went home to be with Christ on December 21, 2014.
She was born on June 2, 1927, in Mozer, WV and was the daughter of the late Robert M. & Jessie (Calhoun) Harman.
Mrs. Mullenax was preceded in death by one son, Larry Robert Mullenax in 1962 & her husband of 57 years, Ernest Mullenax in 2004. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, John Harman, Quinten Harman, Stanley Harman, Edwin Harman, & Eulis Harman; & three sisters, Viola Nelson, Beulah Miller & Bonnie Jones.
She was the last & longest surviving member of her immediate family of nine.
She graduated from Franklin High School in 1946 & taught school at Bergdoll Grade School for a year before marrying. Anna & her husband were owners & operators of Mullenax Transportation for over fifty years until his death in 2004.
She is survived by two daughters, Diana (Allen) Simmons, Harrisonburg, VA & Peggy (Jay) Geary, Petersburg, WV & one grandson, Lucas Robert Geary also of Petersburg;
sister-in-law, Blanche (Kesner) Harman of Pendleton Manor in Franklin. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, two of whom she cherished like daughters, Myra Huffman & Mary Faye Wilkinson.
Anna was a lifelong member of St. John's United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and held numerous offices. She has been attending Bethel Church of the Brethren. She was also a charter member of the Grant-Hardy Camp Auxiliary of the Gideons International. She had been a member of the Landes Farm Women's Club for many years, bowled on the South Branch Valley Women's League, & was an active member of the Grant Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed selling refreshments at the Country Store Opry on weekends while Ernie picked his guitar.
Family will receive friends Monday 6-9 pm at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Rotruck officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Franklin, WV.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International, PO Box 344, Petersburg, WV 26847.
