Beverly R. Cecil

Beverly Roby Cecil, age 84 of Petersburg, WV died Sunday, February 7, 2010 in the Grant County Nursing Home.
She was born in Petersburg, WV and was the daughter of the late Nonnie Isaac Roby and Margie (Smith) Roby.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William H. Cook and her second husband, George Cecil. Also preceded by four brothers, Isaac Seymour Roby, Lawrence Edwin Roby, Roger David Roby and Bradley Dorn Roby.

Beverly graduated from Petersburg High School and was employed by the Grant County Board of Education and Grant Memorial Hospital.

Surviving are one brother, Charles Roby of Petersburg, WV

Two sisters: Sharon Roby Rotruck of McMurray, PA
Martha Roby Hawk of Silver Springs, MD

Sister-in-law: Nancy Roby Hardy of Petersburg, WV

Two nieces: Jenette Roby and Amie Rotruck

Six Nephews: Mark and Fred Roby, Clement and Bill Roby and Patrick and Jeff Hawk

Seven great nieces and one great nephew.

Virginia O. Davis
February 4, 2010

Virginia Oynile "Polly" Davis, age 75 of Maysville, WV died Thursday, February 4, 2010 at her home. She was born June 20, 1934 in Maysville, WV and was the daughter of the late Hiran VanMeter and Beulah (Goldizen) VanMeter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Rotruck and Ann Shot.

Mrs. Davis was a nurses aide at Grant Memorial Hospital and was a caregiver. She was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church in Petersburg, WV.

SURVIVING are her Husband, Alvin "Poppy" Davis, resident of Grant County Nursing Home.

Family will receive friends Monday(Feb 8th) from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home

Funeral service will be Monday (Feb 8 th) 3:00 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Rev Fred Goldizen and P.J. Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Mt Hebron Cemetery, Maysville, WV.

Angie S. Hatcher

Angie Susan (Moyers) Hatcher, age 92 of Beaver Falls, PA and formerly of Petersburg, WV died Saturday, January 23, 2010 in the Friendship Ridge Nursing Home, Beaver, PA.
She was born on July 17, 1917 in Cabins, WV and was the daughter of the late Alfred Moyers and Laura (Goldizen) Moyers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William P. Hatcher on Dec. 24, 1998. Also preceded by three brothers: John F. Moyers, Tommie W. Moyers and Lonnie D. Moyers; ten sisters: infant Beulah Moyers, infant Zera Moyers, Dorothy VanMeter, Sarah Wolford, Stella Ray, Ella Staffer, Arbutus Evans, Nellie Rohrbaugh, Rhoda Dolly and Effie Wolford.

Mrs. Hatcher was a long time active member of Cabins Assembly of God Church.

Surviving are two sons: Joe D. Hatcher of Beaver Falls, PA
William P. Hatcher, Jr. of Myrtle Beach, SC

Seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren

One sister: Orpha Staffer of Petersburg, WV

Several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Monday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, WV.

Funeral service will be Tuesday 11:00 a.m. (Jan26th ) Schaeffer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Lomasney officiating. Interment will follow in the Riggleman Cemetery, Cabins, WV.

JOSEPH W. "TOM" MADDOX

Joseph Wayne "Tom" Maddox, age 69 of Petersburg, WV died Friday, January 22, 2010 at his residence.
He was born May 18, 1940 in Washington, D.C. and was the son of the late John Albert Maddox and Mary Louise (Adams) Maddox.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Maddox is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Marsh Maddox

Robert Maddox of Mount Vernon, VA
Mark Maddox of Kissimmee, FL

One step son: Donald Marsh of Lusby, MD

Two daughters: Debra Daras of Accokeek, MD
Deana Tasciotti of Budds Creek, MD

One step daughter: Kathleen Southard of Front Royal, VA

Nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren

Three step grandchildren

Three sisters: Peggy Trollinger of Lusby, MD
Margaret Oliver of Golden Beach, MD
Gladys "Doc" Kissee of Lusby, MD

Two brothers: Robert "Pete" Maddox of Northern Neck, VA
Donald Maddox of Louisville, GA

Mr. Maddox has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date in Maryland.


 
 
Julius I. Alt
January 17, 2010

Julius Isaac Alt, age 73 of Petersburg, WV died Sunday, January 17, 2010 in the Grant County Nursing Home where he had resided since September 1997.
He was born November 26, 1936 in Petersburg, WV and was the son of the late John W. Alt, Jr. and Bertie (Conrad) Alt.


SURVIVING are two aunts, Mary VanMeter of Arthur, WV and Louise Westfall of
Elkins, WV
Numerous Cousins also survive.

Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Schaeffer Funeral Home

Funeral Service: Tuesday 11 a.m. (Jan 19th) Schaeffer Funeral Home with Rev Bruce Cosner officiating.

Interment will follow in the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville, WV

Margaret L. Donovan
January 17, 2010

Margaret Lee (Secrist) Donovan, age 77 of Petersburg, WV died Sunday, January 17, 2010 in the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, VA.
She was born on July 30, 1932 in Maysville, WV and was the daughter of the late Raymond Secrist and Dorothy (Clauze) Secrist.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Terence Donovan; one sister, Patricia (Secrist) Townshend and two brothers, Frank and Charles Secrist.
Mrs. Donovan was a member and elder of the Petersburg Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir. She also served as an administrator and financial secretary in the church office.


SURVIVING: Her husband, Daniel Donovan

Three sons, Michael, Stephen and Timothy Donovan.

Four grandchildren, Danielle, Michael Jr., Derek and Teren.

Family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. (Jan. 23rd) at the Petersburg Presbyterian Church with Rev. G. Richard Cardot officiating.

Interment will be in the Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, WV.

Douglas F. Brill
January 17, 2010

Douglas Fairbanks Brill, age 86 of Petersburg, WV died Sunday, January 17, 2010 in the Grant County Nursing Home.
He was born February 2, 1923 in Petersburg, WV and was the son of the late Albert L. Brill and Ruth (Rinehart) Brill.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, James R. Brill; three sisters, infant Nancy Brill, Mildred Brill McDonald, and Genevieve Brill.

Mr. Brill graduated from Petersburg High School in 1941. He was bookkeeper with Halterman's Shawnee Mill, Petersburg, WV for several years and retired in 1985 from the Grant County Bank.
He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II and was a member of the Petersburg American Legion Post 78. He was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church.


SURVIVING: One daughter, Amy B. Ratliff of Upper Tract, WV

One sister, Betty R. Brill of Petersburg, WV

One brother, Gerald A. Brill of Petersburg, WV

Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. (Jan. 21st) at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Rev. Steven C. Rhodes and Rev. Greg Rotruck officiating.

Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg, WV, with military honors by the VFW Post 6454 and West Virginia Honor Guard.
