Geraldine (Fulk) Layton, affectionately known as Gerry, age 92 of Scherr, WV died at Grant Memorial Hospital, Monday, January 9, 2012.
She was born August 5, 1919 in Bayard, WV and was a daughter of the late William and Allie Fulk.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Cecil P. Layton Sr. and an infant son, Cecil P. Layton Jr; one brother, H. R. Fulk Sr.; two sisters, Grace and Gertrude.
Mrs. Layton loved to crochet and had a craft project beside every chair. She loved to share her homemade gifts. She was a loving wife and mother and her grandchildren were loved dearly and were recipients of her many stories.
After leaving Bayard she lived five years with her daughter, Margie in Alexandria and seven years in Scherr with her daughter Cindy and husband Bob. The past 2 1/2 years she resided in the Grant County Nursing Home and loved and appreciated those who gave her such excellent care.
She was a member of the Bayard United Methodist Church.
She is survived by four daughters: Judy Warnick and husband Tom of Knoxville, TN
Cindy Parks and husband Bob of Scherr, WV
Margie Butler of Alexandria, VA
Carla Murray and husband Mike of Zachary, LA
One granddaughter, Carrie Markham and husband Brian
Six grandsons: Bruce Parks and wife Lisa; Brad Parks and wife Donna; Tom Warnick; Bill Warnick; John Murray and Brad Murray.
Five great grandchildren: Sara and Cheyanne Parks, Katy and Karoline Warnick and Stacy Parks.
Two special nephews, Jim Fulk of New Hope, VA and Paul Eaton of Berthoud, CO
A memorial service will be Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bayard United Methodist Church, Bayard, WV. Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the church.
Inurnment will follow in the Bayard Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Grant County Nursing Home, 27 Early Ave. Petersburg, WV 26847
