GLEN H.VANCE SR.

 

    Glen  "Hart" Vance Sr., age 89, of Dorcas, WV went to be with his Lord and Savior  Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Grant Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

     He was born July 9, 1922 in Masontown, WV and was a son of the late Ed and Jenny (Crites) Vance.

       He was preceded in death by his first wife,  Edith R. (Ours) Vance on July 12, 1941;  seven brothers:  Wilbur Vance, Tom Vance, Jake Vance, Fred Vance, Bill Vance, Jim Vance and John Vance; six sisters:  Grace Sites, Elsie Sites, Ruth Whetzel, Goldie Huffman, Rose Thorne and Ethel Hines; son-in-law, Gerry Bosley.   

 

      He worked driving a coal truck for Alleghany Mining and spent the majority of his life as a logger and farmer.  He loved the Lord, his church  and his family.

 

 

SURVIVING his wife of 66 years, Gladys (Mongold) Vance

 

 Two sons:  Donald L. Vance of Arlington, VA

                   Glenn H. Vance Jr. and wife Phyllis of Dorcas, WV

 

Two daughters:  Edith Jean Runion and husband Dwight of Maysville, WV

                             Patricia V. Bosley of Maysville, WV

 

One sister: Lena Thorne of Petersburg, WV

 

Ten grandchildren and two step grandchildren

 

Thirteen great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren

 

Numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral service will be Sunday 2:00 (Feb.19th) at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Rev. Carl VanStavern and Rev Joseph Gerstell officiating.

 

Family will receive friends Saturday 5 - 9 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home

 

Interment will be in the Sites Cemetery, Dorcas, WV

 

Memorials may be made to Sites Chapel United Methodist Church, HC 33, Box 3175, Dorcas, WV  26847.
