Mary Elizabeth Shobe, age 88 of Petersburg, WV went to be with her Lord on Friday, November 12, 2010 in Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.

         She was born April 10, 1922 in Petersburg, WV and was the daughter of the late Homer C. Schaeffer and Eva T. (Barger) Schaeffer.

         She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ernest Woodrow Shobe on December 24, 1984 and one daughter, Jacqueline Duane Shobe on November 7, 1945.

         Mrs. Shobe was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church where she faithfully taught the Kindergarden Sunday School class for over 63 years. She also served as Superintendent of the Children's Department and Coordinator for Vacation Bible School for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, Administrative Board, and the choir.

She is survived by two sons, Terry E. Shobe and wife Pam of Petersburg, WV, Larry E. Shobe and wife Carol of Winchester, VA and one daughter, Carolyn E. Cooper and husband Bob of Petersburg, WV; Eight grandchildren, Jaclyn Cooper Ambrogi and husband Tommy, Jonathan Cooper and wife Ashlee, Jalyn Cooper, Jennifer Shobe Huddleston and husband Lucas, Laura Shobe Seal and husband Terry, Catherine Shobe, Ryan Lewis, and Briton Shobe; and Four great grandchildren, Kaya and Mylee Cooper, Claire Huddleston, and Wyatt Ambrogi.

     Family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home .

     Funeral services will be Sunday 2:00 p.m. at the Main Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Steven C. Rhodes and Revs. Roger and Ann Harrison officiating.

     Interment will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Petersburg, WV

Memorials may be made to the Main Street United Methodist Church or to the Grant County Nursing Home Memory Room Addition.
